So I'm prepping for the Minneapolis Indie Expo and in addition to 'Horn Boy' and 'Histromedy' which are stand alone books I have two other additional books. I will be featuring an preview book of 'Kemet' redone in Illustrator. It will be the first 8 pages of the comic to help get people excited about the final version. The final version is a 100 plus page graphic novel set in Ancient Egypt where Huni, a scribe, becomes a detective in order to solve a mystery for the Pharaoh. The second is 'Transmissions' a promotional book for my upcoming web comic 'Zeb from Outer Space.' 'Transmissions' will feature three original short stories and is also 8 pages long. 'Transmissions' will only be available through purchase.

HISTROMEDY

So with only a few pages left to finish I decided to start promoting my latest mini comic 'Histromedy.' This comic will be 4 x 4 inches and available for sale in November at MIX. It is a somewhat humorous look at the past with a few interesting facts and some historical inconsistencies. I have included four sample pages in my comics portfolio section. Here are three of them.

I recently attended a convention where in an attempt to get people's attention I created a small marker doodle of what is now being called the 'Cheap, Cheap, Cheap' chicken. He was pretty popular so even after someone bought the original sign I decided he should live on. So, he continues to live in illustrator form.

For the anthology of my final studio class we had to do a 'First'. I did my first class at Graduate school. It was a bit of an alpha and omega thing. It was only two pages, meant to fit on half an eight and a half by eleven sized sheet in landscape format and done in under three hours.

Orb World Redux

Have you ever had a character you really loved but you can't seem to make the story work? Well the characters of Thyre, Casus and Ludin have been bouncing around for a while never quite finding their footing in the fantasy world I created for them. I think I finally have settled on a story that makes me happy. They'll be appearing very soon with a new story in web comic form. It will be a ongoing story called 'Thyre of the Icy North.' Here are some preliminary sketches of the characters as well as one or two just for fun doodles.

So this is the first in a series of illustrations I'm calling 'A Hipster Love Triangle,' that I'm working on in my spare time. I've been searching for a middle ground between the hyper, over done vectors I've done in the past and some more graphic ones I've done recently. I did this as a triptych but I've also included the separate images including some process work like the initial stage where I just block out the base colors and the little color squares that have come to be a sort of digital palette while I work.

So this is going to be a bit of a large post showcasing what I've done this past week. I've broken it up into sections since it's a variety of things. First I have 4 Penciled Pages from 'Kemet' in its final incarnation. After this project I'll probably be taking a break from 'Kemet'. I've worked on it on and off for roughly three years now and I need some distance from it.

Business Card Evolution

I present to you the in process and final art for the new business card I'm designing for myself. It's a take off on Da Vinci's 'Madonna of the Rocks'. It's not complete yet as I haven't decided on an appropriate font face for my text nor have I finalized my logo design. Once all of that gets done it will be finished but for now I have the finished base art. The art covers the front and back of the business card.

The very first page of my new Plaedies comic. Its the final pencils and you can still see some of the blue lined people that got moved in the final version. They sort of look like ghost people. So that's one page down and 19 more to go in this particular project. Its obviously going to be much long than 19 pages but I only have 20 pages planned out at the moment.
